Exothermic and endothermic reactions have multiple uses in everyday life as heat release or absorption can be useful.

Applications of Energy Changes

Chemical cells use a chemical reaction to produce voltage (electricity) with similar apparatus to electrolysis. These small cells can be connected to make a battery. Fuel cells (shown) provide a continous voltage when supplied with a constant supply of fuel and oxygen to produce electrical energy.
